Residents receive extensive training through didactic, case-based, and mixed conferences. Conferences are given in all subspecialties by both our own attendings and many visiting lecturers.
- Departmental Lectures:
- Two daily teaching conferences (8:00-9:00 AM and 12:30-2:00 PM)
- Physics lecture series - approximately 30 didactic lectures covering radiologic physics and radiation protection
- PGY-2 and PGY-4 residents participate in a week-long MRI physics course.
- Weekly tumor board
- Monthly quality improvement conference.
- Monthly journal club conference
- Monthly resident presentations
- Residents also have the opportunity to teach and lecture third and fourth year Albert Einstein medical students during their clerkships or elective rotations
- Subspecialty Rounds and Conferences with clinical staff participation:
- Pediatrics: daily pediatric rounds
- Cardiac: weekly cardiology conference
- Chest: daily pulmonary rounds and monthly pathology conference
- Neuro: daily neuroradiology rounds
- Residents attend multiple external conferences, including:
- New York State Radiological Society meetings: sponsored membership for all residents
- Radiobiology Course by Dr. Eric Hall of Columbia University
- AIRP
- Four week course in Silver Spring, Maryland
- The department provides funding to cover the cost of attending the AIRP (www.airp.org) and a $1600 stipend for room and board.
- RSNA, ARRS or other society meetings
- The Department funds trips for residents presenting papers or having well defined research interests.
- Additionally, CIR (Committee of Interns and Residents) will provide funding for a national meeting
